How to use the Random Number Generator

  1. Set the range. Click the range at the top (or press E) and type the lowest and highest numbers, or pick a quick range in Settings.
  2. Draw. Press Space or Draw. The digits roll and settle on the result.
  3. Draw several at once. Use + and − to draw up to 20 numbers together. Turn on Sort to show them in order.
  4. Call bingo. Turn on No repeats: every number comes up once, the board shows what has been called, and a message tells you when they are all gone.

Classroom ideas

  • Classroom bingo: set 1 to 75 with No repeats on, give out bingo cards and call the numbers with the board on screen so you can check winners.
  • Place value warm-up: draw a four-digit number and ask pupils to write it in words, round it, or partition it.
  • Number of the day: draw from 1 to 100 each morning; the class lists everything they know about it.
  • Random seats or turns: number the desks and draw without repeats to decide the order of presentations.
  • Integer practice: set −20 to 20 and draw two numbers to add, subtract or compare on the number line.

Frequently asked questions

Is it truly random?
Each number is drawn with your browser’s cryptographic random generator, using rejection sampling so every number in the range is exactly equally likely. The rolling digits are only the animation.
Can it include negative numbers?
Yes. Any whole numbers from −999,999,999 to 999,999,999 work, such as −10 to 10.
What does No repeats do?
It works like a bingo caller: a number that has been drawn stays out until every number in the range has come up. With No repeats off, every draw is independent, so the same number can appear again, even twice in one draw.
How do I start a new game of bingo?
Press R or click “Put all the numbers back” in Settings. The board clears and every number is back in.
Can I draw more than one number?
Yes, up to 20 at a time. Turn on Sort to show them from smallest to largest. For dice-style rolls, try the 3D dice roller.
