About OpenClassroomTool

OpenClassroomTool is a free collection of 25 classroom tools for teachers: timers and clocks, randomizers and games, classroom-management helpers and interactive teaching aids, plus a Classroom Board that puts several of them on one screen.

Principles

• Instant. Every tool opens ready to use. There is no account, no setup and no ad in the way of the lesson.
• Made for the front of the room. Big type, high contrast, a one-key full-screen mode (F) and the same shortcuts on every tool (Space to start, roll, spin or pick; R to reset).
• Private by design. Class lists, scores and boards are stored only in your browser. Nothing is uploaded and there are no trackers. The noise meter listens to the microphone on your computer and never records or sends audio.
• Fair randomness. Dice, coins, wheels, name pickers and group makers draw from your browser's cryptographically secure random generator. The 3D animation shows the result; it never decides it.
• Works offline. Once you have opened a tool, it keeps working if the school Wi-Fi drops.

How the 3D tools work

The dice, coin, sand timer, spin wheel, 3D shapes, base-ten blocks and globe are drawn live with WebGL. They use physically based materials, soft shadows and studio-style reflections, and the dice and coin are thrown with a real rigid-body physics simulation. If a computer cannot show 3D, the tool falls back to a flat version automatically.
