How to use the Classroom Instructions Board

  1. Write the steps. Pick a routine under Quick templates, type one step per line in Settings, or click a step on the board and type over it.
  2. Show it. Press F to present full screen, or keep it on the Classroom Board under a timer. The text grows or shrinks to fit.
  3. Tick as you go. Click the circle beside a step, press its number key, or press Space to tick the next one. C clears every tick.
  4. Say what comes next. Turn on the “Next” box so early finishers know what to do without asking.

Classroom ideas

  • Now and Next: keep the title “Now” for the current task and put the following activity in the Next box — calm transitions with fewer questions.
  • Morning routine: leave the morning routine up as pupils arrive and let a helper tick each step as the class completes it.
  • Science practicals: number every step of the method and add icons, so groups can check where they are without interrupting.
  • Independent work: pair the steps with a timer and the voice level so expectations are all on one screen.
  • Visual support: pupils who find long instructions hard can follow one short step at a time, with an icon to anchor each one.

Frequently asked questions

How do I edit a step?
Click the step’s text on the board. A box opens where you can type, choose an icon, move the step up or down, or delete it. Press Enter to finish. You can also edit everything in Settings, one step per line.
What happens if I have a lot of steps?
With text size set to Fit, the words shrink until every step fits on the screen. Wide spaces use two columns. With Large or Huge the size stays fixed and the list scrolls.
Can pupils tick the steps?
Yes. Click the round button beside a step (or press its number) to tick it: the step fades and is crossed out. Press C or R to clear all the ticks.
Are my instructions saved?
Yes, in this browser. The board remembers its own list, and each copy on the Classroom Board keeps its own steps.
